As the founding partner and CEO of LeaderXY Group, Alan’s business and leadership experience spans thirty-three years of founding, operating, leading, and advising private, public companies, and non-profit organizations. He has served in the roles of founder/owner, executive, CEO/President, Director, and Chairman. Direct business involvements have included start-ups, partnerships, public companies, franchises and he has experienced rapid growth through mergers and acquisitions, restructures, and fast internal sales growth. Alan co-founded and guided Allied Waste Industries (NYSE – AW) from startup to going public through a reverse merger and rapid growth for eleven years.
This breadth of experience has been continually honed over the past fifteen years by advising hundreds of business owners, executives, leaders, and their organizations in a variety of industry segments, from retail to high tech. This combination of direct peer-level business leadership experience, strategic advisory, coaching, and mentoring expertise has placed Alan in the unique position to apply his strategic thinking, observational skills, and collaborative initiatives in thousands of one-on-one, team, and organizational situations. He leverages this knowledge and expertise to accelerate performance improvements for others that are customized for them, sustainable, and profitable.
Over the past six years, Alan has been leading the development and launch of the LeaderXY Talent Management System (Software as a Service). In collaboration with other business leaders, executives, coaches, HR specialists, trainers, organizational, and leadership development experts – a series of strategic performance improvement and learning development initiatives and web-based tools have emerged focused on producing high performance results that quickly penetrate the mindset and skill set of human capital resources in today’s fast paced organizations.
Alan lives in Austin, Texas with Cindy, his wife of 21 years, and two sons, ages 18 and 15. Family activities include various community projects, ministry, and Scouting activities. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin in Finance.

Cindy's experience extends to many industries and departments within an organization. In 1998, she spearheaded the marketing launch of a CD-Rom / web-based multimedia training course specializing in cross-cultural diversity. This product received the award for Top 10 Training Product by HR Executive Magazine in September 1999.
Other roles and experience include franchise owner, MarCom leadership for an Internet IPO, launch of online technology publications, extranets and development of one of the first national online job banks in the country in 1996.
As a manager with Ernst & Young, her 6-year tenure took her through managing office automation projects for law offices and large corporations to primary responsibility for the systems to track people and knowledge assets in the Information Technology Group of Ernst & Young’s Southeast region.

Before Borland, Dan was Product Manager, Consumer at Builder Homesite. He guided NewHomeSource.com, the leading new homes portal that connects new home seekers with image, video, and data-rich communities from the nation’s top new home builders (David Weekley, KB Home, Pulte, and more.)
Before Builder Homesite, Dan served successfully as Product Manager, Project Manager, and Channel Manager for Hoover’s Online, a top business information service, and a subsidiary of Dun and Bradstreet. He led sales trainings, directed product roadmaps, and drove large-scale product launches for both the Hoover’s free site (lead acquisition vehicle) and paid site (subscriber-only content, features, and tools.)
Earlier in his career, Dan served as Publisher for the nation’s first profitable TV station Web site. He started his career as VP of Operations at Access Point Interactive, leading product and content strategy.
He’s a graduate of Valparaiso University’s Broadcast Journalism department and a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s Masters program in Communications
